how in Kalisz poured

rivers of Jewish blood.

that dark night,

when he, Hitler, killed

masses of Jews.

And I will not and have not

lost my mind.

The murderers, oy,

found a Torah scroll.

The street was

besieged by the Hitlers.

And then began, oy,

the great fury.

​

I’ll remember until I die…

None of the Jews

remained at home;

they drove them

to Ciasny twenty-one.

​

I’ll remember until I die…

​

And they forced them to crawl

on all fours, quickly.

And as they crawled, they made them, oy,

bark like dogs.

​

I’ll remember until I die…

​

They came to the house

with shame and with blows.

Then they cut swastikas

into their heads.

​

I’ll remember until I die…

​

And they desecrated the Torah

and defiled it hideously,

and with mockery they

burned it on a bonfire.

​

I’ll remember until I die…

​

I ask that these simple words

be written down in a book,

so the horror, for distant generations,

will remain in a book.

​

I’ll remember until I die…

And when the bitter war

comes to an end,

you shouldn’t leave a single soul

of the Hitlers.
